I'm Moving...

I've decided that for now...with three children under three and one on the way...updating two blogs is too much for me! So all of my posting will be done here for the time being. I may come back and start updating this one again sometime in the future if I end up with some extra time. Say thirty years from now... :-)

Woven in the Womb

"For You formed my inward parts; You covered me in my mother's womb. I will praise You, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made; marvelous are Your works, and that my soul knows very well. My frame was not hidden from You, when I was made in secret, and skillfully wrought in the lowest parts of the earth. Your eyes saw my substance, being yet unformed. And in Your book they all were written, the days fashioned for me, when as yet there were none of them."

I was just reading this passage from Psalm 139 and I noticed a footnote that I had never seen before. In verse 13, the word "covered" could also be "wove". God wove me in my mother's womb and he is weaving the baby that I am carrying now. That's not exactly a new concept to me, although I really like the word "wove"...it paints a neat picture that I had not thought of before.

I've been thinking a lot lately about what it would be like to have a child with a disability. I'm sure it's incredibly hard dealing with all of the medical issues that come with Down's Syndrome or something like that. Not to mention the extra care that a disabled child needs and the time that would need to be devoted to him...and consequently the time that would possibly not be able to be devoted to other family members.

I'm not praying that our new baby will be disabled, but if he is (we'll just call it "he" for now, although of course we don't know yet), I can honestly say that I am perfectly okay with that. I am praying for God's will, whether that's a perfectly healthy baby or a severely disabled baby. Right now God is forming his "inward parts" and "weaving" him in my womb. He is being "skillfully wrought" in "secret" and he is "not hid from God". God knows everything about him and has already "fashioned" his days. My sincere prayer is that he will grow up to "praise Him" for he is "fearfully and wonderfully made". This passage in Psalms does not say anything about God making mistakes on us in our mothers' wombs. Disabled babies are not accidents. They are just as fearfully and wonderfully made and just as skillfully wrought as healthy babies. And most importantly, they are made in the image of their Creator.

Catch-up

It's been a long time since I've posted! We had a wonderful Christmas season and I hope that you did as well. Adam's classes don't start until Jan. 8, so he's off this week and is trying to get some projects wrapped up around the house. I've got a couple projects of my own in the works...I'm making a new recipe book and of course there's the ever present laundry project! My pregnancy is going very well. I don't feel the greatest, but it could be a lot worse. I'll be 11 weeks at the end of this week, so I should be past the morning sickness soon. I haven't seen the midwife yet. They're really busy and I can't get in until Jan. 24th. But that's okay with me...maybe I'll miss some of those tests that I don't want anyway!

Here are a few pictures!

Long Time No Post

Sick babies and our big Christmas Festival service (which requires lots of rehearsing!) at church have kept me from posting recently. But everyone is better and our service went very well!

Well, Joshua is almost completely potty trained now! He hasn't had an accident in weeks. He's still wearing diapers at night, so I guess that's our next hurdle. He woke up dry this morning though, so we're close!!

Adam has finished repairing our ceiling and now we're in the process of moving everything back into the bedroom. There's still stuff all over the house, so this will be a short post! Enjoy the pictures!

Here are the Christmas bags that I made this year...instead of using wrapping paper

Woohoo!!!

We just found out that Adam has been accepted to dental school! It's a huge answer to prayer and we're very excited and thankful. Here is a picture of my handsome, smart, charming, hard-working, intelligent husband with his acceptance letter. :-)

Christmas Hymns

I love Christmas hymns...here is the text to my favorite one.

Thou who was rich beyond all splendor,
All for love's sake becamest poor;

Thrones for a manger didst surrender,
Sapphire paved courts for stable floor.
Thou who was rich beyond all splendor,
All for love's sake becamest poor.

Thou who art God beyond all praising,
All for love's sake becamest man;

Stooping so low, but sinners raising,
Heav'nward by thine eternal plan.

Thou who are God beyond all praising,
All for love's sake becamest man.

Thou who art love beyond all telling,
Savior and King, we worship thee.

Emmanuel, within us dwelling,
Make us what thou wouldst have us be.

Thou who art love beyond all telling,
Savior and King, we worship thee.
